Cameras and access control are only useful when they keep working and do not become a weak point. They need to be part of the network design from the start.
Are you facing any of these?
Cameras take shared bandwidth
They slow the working network and often drop video.
Devices are not updated
Old cameras left on default settings are a familiar attack point.
Unsafe remote viewing
Opening ports straight to the Internet to view cameras.
Main scope
And more besides, depending on what fits your situation.
A separate network for cameras
Separated from the office network so neither affects the other.
Power over network (PoE)
Tidy, easy to maintain, fewer power cables.
Enough storage time
Capacity sized to the number of cameras and the retention time needed.
Secure remote viewing
Through VPN or an authenticated channel, with no ports opened directly.
Access control
Integrated into the network with permission management.
Maintenance and updates
Change default passwords and update on a schedule.
How the system is usually organized
- PoE switches dedicated to cameras
- A recorder or storage server sized to the right capacity
- A separate camera network, with remote access through VPN
- Monitoring of camera and recorder health
The specific architecture is set after the survey, depending on your size and current setup.
4 clear steps from the start
- SurveyLocations, viewing angles and cable routes.
- DesignNetwork, storage and cost estimate.
- InstallCabling and equipment installation.
- HandoverConfiguration, guidance and maintenance.
Frequently asked questions
Can I reuse my old cameras?
Usually yes, if the devices are still supported and can be secured. We check first, and if a device does not qualify we recommend replacing it gradually.
How long should footage be kept?
It depends on your needs and the rules that apply to you. The longer the retention, the more capacity is needed, so it should be agreed from the start.
Is viewing cameras on a phone safe?
Safe through a VPN or a service with multi-factor authentication. Ports should not be opened directly to the Internet.
Can you do outdoor industrial sites?
Yes. We choose outdoor-rated equipment and design suitable cable routes, power and surge protection.
Reference vendors and product codes for this solution
By specific need and size. Codes are for reference; COREIT fixes the model and successor versions after the survey, and can use equivalent equipment from other vendors to suit the budget.
